There is a particular kind of education that happens outside of a classroom. For me, it happened on Front Street.
For several seasons I worked in the art galleries of Lahaina — surrounded by painters, sculptors, collectors, and the quiet hum of creativity that defined that town before the world knew its name. I was a massage therapist by training, but those years among artists taught me something no textbook could: that the most meaningful work is layered, intentional, and composed with the whole experience in mind.
That understanding lives in everything I do at Lahaina Luxury Health Spa today.
Lahaina taught me that care is a form of craft.
A great painting isn’t just technically correct — it moves you. It was made with attention to how the viewer would feel standing in front of it. I began approaching my sessions the same way. Not just: did I address the tension in your shoulders? But: how did you feel walking out the door? Did your nervous system settle? Did you leave lighter than you arrived?
This is what eventually led me to develop the Œuvre Collection — my signature service menu designed with the same layered intention you’d find in a carefully composed work of art. Each treatment is built around your specific needs, your pace, your body’s language on that particular day.
Maui’s healing traditions deepened the work.
My formal training began at the Makawao School of Therapeutic Massage in 2008, where I studied under James Hackett, LMT — a practitioner with over thirty years of experience in neuromuscular and orthopedic bodywork. That clinical foundation gave me precision.
For years I have been working within some of Maui’s most celebrated resort environments — Royal Lahaina, Sheraton Black Rock, and Honua Kai — where the standard of care is as high as the expectations. Those years taught me the unspoken language of luxury hospitality: anticipating needs before they’re expressed, creating an environment where every detail is considered, and delivering a level of consistency that transforms a service into an experience. I learned that true luxury isn’t about opulence — it’s about intention. The way a room feels when you walk in. The temperature of the table. The weight of silence between movements. These are the details that separate a good massage from one you remember for years.
The fires changed everything — and nothing.
The Lahaina fires of 2023 reshaped my understanding of community, resilience, and what it means to truly care for one another. Front Street — those galleries, that town, that particular magic — is gone in ways that still ache. But the spirit of Lahaina lives in the people who were shaped by it, and I carry it into every session.
Lahaina Luxury Health Spa was built to honor that balance: the art, the healing, the ocean, the land, the people. If you’ve never experienced what intentional bodywork can do for your body and your nervous system, I’d love to show you.
